What is Bloated By Thoughts? 🕵🏾‍♀️

Bloated By Thoughts is a monthly newsletter from Sydney Gore.

If you’re familiar with any of my editorial work, you’ve probably noticed that I cover a variety of intersecting topics. I follow my curiosity wherever it leads whether that’s mushroomsincense, candles, rituals, activated charcoal, trap gardening, Pantone’s Color of the Year, or rituals for letting go. I have so many different interests that deserve to be fully explored and this newsletter is where I’ve decided to do it.

My intent is to hold space for discourse that shifts the culture forward. Lately, I’ve been interrogating some of the most pressing issues within the wellness industrial complex like whitewashing, the commodification of “self-care,” the popularity of crystals, the spreading of misinformation, the working-out-while-working-from-home crossover, and breaking bad digital habits. I am also passionate about raising awareness around food sovereignty, disability justice, environmental justice, and BIPOC reclaiming the outdoors.

The inspiration behind the BBT name comes from a poem that I wrote—you can read it on Wax Nine Records—which also subtly references my relationship with irritable bowel syndrome and anxiety. Whether it’s an essay, a poem, a listicle, an op-ed, or a product roundup, I’m sharing what’s on my mind in real-time. There’s currently no outline for what will live here... I’m just trusting my gut.

Buckle up for the digital dump! 🚂
